Canon Eos

Is the Canon EOS 1100d good?
So I want to buy a new slr for my photography course at tafe. I will be taking like portrait shots and action shots of skating etc. And since it was purchased about 2 years ago, would it be the same as buying one from the shops now. Like model wise and performance. Whops forgot to add that I already have a 18-55 lens

What camera would you recommend, Student/Semi Proffessional?
I am a photography degree student and i want to upgrade, from my lumix G1 to an actual DSLR. I've used several cameras from the EOS range, mostly the 50d before with work and really like them so i'm quite sure i'd like to stick with Canon EOS. I've been selling some of my work in small amounts and have photographed events for family and friends so i want something i can get some impressive professional looking images with..My G1 just isn't doing the job i want anymore. I've been looking at the EOS 7D, i like the sound of it and the specs all suit my kind of needs, but i'm open to suggestions. I want something semi proffessional that hopefully will last me a good while and im aiming for under £1500 with maybe a 18-135mm lens, which i have found the 7D for. Any tactful help greatly appreciated Thanks In response to the second answer, I shoot a lot of different things, I enjoy shooting Wildlife and Landscapes, However being a student i have to shoot a wide variety of things to suit my assignments...like Portraits etc
